The 34-year-old Huon rower was in the women’s quadruple scull crew which achieved automatic qualification to the A-final by winning its heat in Aiguebelette, near the Swiss border.
Hore and crewmates Madeleine Edmunds, Jennifer Cleary and Jessica Hall, who are coached by Tom Westgarth, had claimed silver at the Lucerne world cup earlier this year and were up against USA, New Zealand, France and 2008 Olympic champion China in their heat.
The Queensland-based Australian crew pushed into the lead at the halfway mark and led home USA to book their place in the A-Final. The Germans, who are the reigning world champions, won the other heat, but only a fraction faster than the Australians.
In total, seven Australian crews qualified for the respective quarters, semis or finals, while the remaining five will contest repechages.
The lightweight men’s pair of Tasmanian-based Queenslanders Darryn Purcell and Nick Silcox, who are coached by Brett Crow of the Tasmanian Institute of Sport, saw off a stern challenge from Japan to book a place in the semi-finals in a time of 6:50:95.
The women’s eight crew featuring Buckingham’s Meaghan Volker finished fourth and will head to the repechage on Wednesday.
The legs, trunks and arms mixed coxed four featuring Tasmanians Alistair Chong and Sara Waitzer made their debut at the championships, finishing fourth to progress to the repechage.
Huon’s Georgia Nesbitt will be in action again on Wednesday in the repechage of the lightweight women’s single scull.
