Mr Rockliff attended the Tasmanian Association of State Schools Organisation state conference on Saturday and spoke about financial transparency in his address to the parent cohort.

"For the first time this government will be releasing comprehensive data including school funding, attendance and funding for students with disabilities as an addition to the Department of Education annual report," he said.

TASSO president Jenny Eddington said the call for extra school psychologists and social workers attracted much interest from parents and was overwhelmingly supported.

She said parents also wanted a sector-led review of the year 11 and 12 extension policy, rather than one undertaken by the University of Tasmania.

"The minister didn't really address our call for the need for more school psychologists, social workers and cross-agency support for students in need of those services, but that was something that was a passionate part of the debate among parents," Mrs Eddington said.

"We absolutely do need more support available in the early stages of need, rather than at the crisis point, where students are waiting so long to get consultations with psychologists and referrals to appropriate professionals that by the time they get to see someone their problem has increased dramatically," she said.

"He also indicated that the university was going to review the years 11 and 12 policy. That motion came up in the conference quite strongly and the direction was that the university shouldn't do that review which should instead be done by the stakeholders of education including TASSO and principals."
