The mother of a baby boy who died of severe head injuries told a nurse the infant's father had banged his head against a brick wall, an inquest has been told.
Bjay Johnstone was just 45 days old when he died at the Royal Hobart Hospital in November 2012.
Paediatric nurse Lucy Copping told an inquest into his death that while in hospital, Bjay's mother Fleur Atkin said that her partner, Simon Johnstone, had hurt the baby.
"She said Simon would bang Bjay's head on a brick wall," Ms Copping told the inquest in Hobart on Tuesday.
The inquest has previously heard Bjay had a fractured skull, broken ribs, a broken wrist, bruising to the left cheek and a torn lip.
Ms Copping said Ms Atkin told her she would try to attend to Bjay first to avoid Mr Johnstone hurting him.
"I remember her talking to me a lot about how Simon would hurt Bjay," Ms Copping said.
The inquest continues.
