Grains Research and Development Corporation Southern Regional panel chairman Keith Pengilley labelled the day a success, with about 90 people attending.
"Why this works so well across Australia is that we are engaged right across the (agricultural) sector," Mr Pengilley said.
"The feedback was very positive and had a very good program."
The forum featured an overview of the Tasmanian Agricultural Plan and a presentation by Moo Brew brewery on the idea of marketing the state among its highlights.
"There were a couple of key messages, with the first one being around that branding and that farmers should be thinking about the way they promote their brand.
"The other critical message was about understanding the business principals.
"There was a quote from Basil Doonan (from Macquarie Franklin) who said, 'most farmers don't actively look for profit, they actively hope for profit'.
"That to me was the key message, and those farmers that look for profit have actually looked at the deficiencies in their system in regards to labour and machinery, looking at how technology fits and looking at the importance of timing and making sure we get that right."
The forum was held at the Tramsheds at Inveresk.
