Philip Dingemanse was awarded the 2015 Emerging Architect Prize and received a commendation for his design of the Valley House, at the Tasmanian Architecture Awards in Hobart last weekend.
The Valley House sits atop a hill at St Leonards and overlooks the Tamar River.
The house is solar powered and was designed to flow with the surrounding environment.
‘‘It’s all about the site and the landscape,’’ Mr Dingemanse said.
‘‘The site, the landscape and the beautiful views set up a strategy. The bends contour with the land.’’
Judges awarded Mr Dingemanse the Emerging Architect honour – an award he calls a great honour in Tasmania – for his dedication to the profession.
‘‘Philip’s dedicated work, covering the breadth of the architectural profession, represents an aspiration for emerging architects and graduates to strive for,’’ the prize jury said.
