A special presentation assembly was held for the renowned journalist and writer at the school this month.
Burden, a student of George Town High School between 1972 and 1975, was praised by Port Dalrymple School principal Philip Challis as a woman who chased her dreams.
Hobart, Sydney, Tokyo and London have all served as subsequent homes for Burden, who has her name to publications including British Cosmopolitan, Australian New Woman and MAXIM.
"Hilary Burden has lived a full life, rich with wonderful accomplishments and chock-full of deep friendships," Mr Challis said.
"Hilary has fulfilled so many of her goals and dreams since schooldays here at George Town, and she continues to dream and set high expectations."
Burden has since written on her blog of her pride at being recognised by her old school.
She spoke to students about her career.
The school's Wall of Pride was established in 2009 to recognise the achievements of former staff and students of Port Dalrymple School and George Town High School.
Its creation was in part to show students that success was determined by drive and work, rather than location.
Previous inductees include Michael Ogden for academic achievement, Peter Cox, Tim Mooney and Lyndon Bolton for community service, Philippa Webb for professional achievement and Danny Clark, Scott Mason and Brendon Bolton for sporting achievement.
