ONE of the state's largest full-scale missing person searches has failed to find missing Launceston man Ben Plowright.
More than two hundred members of the public, up to 30 SES, a seven-strong Mounted Search and Rescue squad, Mr Plowright's family and friends and Tasmania Police searched the Perth area to find Mr Plowright's body or any evidence of him.
The search saw teams of volunteers and SES searching Perth streets and backyards in a one-kilometre radius in Perth up to Western Junction.
Police Inspector Darren Hopkins said nearly every home in Perth had been searched.
He said he was ''reasonably confident'' that Mr Plowright was not in the area.
Police have not ruled out foul play.
Mr Plowright, 20, has not been seen since leaving a party on Arthur Street, Perth on Saturday, May 30, about 9.30pm.
He is understood to have been intoxicated and was last seen walking towards the train tracks at Perth.
The search will resume tomorrow, continuing down further near Nile on the theory that perhaps Mr Plowright had started to walk towards his parent's house.
UPDATE 10.45AM:
THE search this morning for missing man Ben Plowright has begun, with more than a hundred members of the public arriving to help.
Up to 30 SES, seven people on horseback, police and volunteer teams have set out.
Police say they want every house in Perth cleared.
They said volunteers must thoroughly search under sheds, in grasses, and in any place a person might be able to rest.
Ben's father Steve Plowright said volunteers should also look for a pair of glasses that might have been dropped by Ben, or his iPhone.
The search is focused on the Perth area, up to Longford and the Devon Hills area.
EARLIER:
MORE than 100 personnel are expected to take part in what could be the last large-scale co-ordinated search effort for missing Launceston man Ben Plowright in Perth on Saturday.
Tasmania Police Inspector Darren Hopkins said the search efforts would refocus on the Perth township and involve police, SES and volunteers on dirt bikes and horseback, setting off this morning.
Mr Plowright, 20, has not been seen since leaving a party on Arthur Street, Perth on Saturday, May 30, about 9.30pm.
He is understood to have been affected by alcohol and was last seen walking towards the train tracks at Perth.
Inspector Hopkins said the search was one of the largest to take place in Tasmania for some time.
"We are asking for the assistance and the co-operation of the Perth community in allowing police and SES to conduct searches of their yards and properties."
He said the search would concentrate on a small radius of where Mr Plowright was last seen, which, according to local and international intelligence on missing persons, is likely to be located within one kilometre of the last sighting.
Inspector Hopkins requested home and property owners search their own yards, including sheds, shrubs and bushes where a person may be concealed.
A police spokeswoman said although it was initially reported a cadaver dog would be working in the area, it would instead be a specialist tracking K9.
Deloraine Inspector Scott Flude said Mr Plowright's family was holding out hope but at the same time they were realistic of the situation and some kind of closure would be good.
Mr Plowright is described as 175 centimetres tall, of slim build with brown hair, and is of Thai descent.
He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a grey hooded jumper, bright coloured Converse shoes and regularly wears glasses.
Police would like anyone with information to contact either Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Launceston police on 6777 3945.
