Thirty industry operators and volunteers from the Tamar Valley's information centres experienced the Low Head Penguin Tour then met at the Bass and Flinders Centre for an event hosted by Tim Cory.
George Town Council general manager John Martin was guest speaker for the event and provided an update on the council's happenings.
Launceston Tamar Valley Tourism Association's Shannon Exelby said the event was a great opportunity for George Town to showcase its tourism highlights.
He said state budget allocations for the North presented a chance for the industry to move into the next era of tourism.
"We do it quite regularly with networking functions at least once every two months, so this time we were reaching up into George Town and the Tamar Valley," he said.
"It's easy for us to concentrate on Launceston but from our point of view we incorporate Launceston and the Tamar Valley, so our job is to bring all that together.
"Low Head Penguin Tours is a jewel for Launceston and the North."
Mr Exelby said participants in the networking event - including hoteliers from Launceston - would use the knowledge they gained in helping tourists plan itineraries.
"It was an amazing experience so thanks very much to both of those businesses for providing that experience."
The Launceston Tamar Valley Tourism Association is now working with councils and Tourism Northern Tasmania to help develop their strategic tourism plans.
