The 23-year-old was a back-up dancer for Swift while she performed We are Never Getting Back Together at the Los Angeles awards night.
Brownlie grew up in Launceston and formed his formative dancing years in Northern Tasmania where his parents Penny and Alex still live.
He is now based in Los Angeles and recently appeared on the popular television series Glee after spending 12 months on Katy Perry's world tour as one of four male back-up dancers.
In an earlier interview with The Examiner Brownlie said he had hoped to get into music videos and dance-based movies.
``The great thing about LA is there is so much work constantly happening so you can't really plan anything you've just got to see what happens,'' Brownlie said.
The dancer broke into the international scene when he won a role in the much-vaunted musical Wicked in Melbourne in 2008.
He encouraged other people to follow their dreams.
``You can't hold yourself back. You can't keep questioning yourself, you need to know that the talent you have is what it is and you've just got to do it.''
