The longest-running show in the southern hemisphere will be held over two days from Friday May 29.
On Monday the Midland Agricultural Association was setting up pens, putting down straw and holding a general clean-up day.
Association publicity officer Jo Dowling said the next week and a half would be spent locking in trade sites, setting up exhibition halls and taking entries for classes.
"It's something that, as a community, we're incredibly proud of . . . It's run by volunteers at a time when people just don't have much time, so the fact that it still exists is a credit to the people who remain committed," she said.
"It's an important event for a number of reasons. It's the oldest running show in the southern hemisphere, it's a reflection of our agricultural community, and it's run by volunteers from the rural community who are giving back to the Campbell Town community, sharing and celebrating what we can do in the Midlands."
This year's show will feature entertainment from The Wolfe Brothers and Caitlyn Shadbolt, as well as the usual activities, including sheep and wool competitions, face painting, animal nursery, and pet parade.
Meat and Livestock Australia's main butcher Doug Parker will hold butchering demonstrations while Roberts Ltd will host guest speakers to celebrate the company's 150th anniversary.
Mrs Dowling said it was rewarding to see families safely enjoying a day out in their community.
"It is a relief [when it all comes together], and what is a relief is to see how excited the kids get about it," she said.
"I'm not sure what the exact figure would be but it does give Campbell Town a really nice injection, the accommodation is filled up, there's a buzz around town, and any buzz in Campbell Town is a good thing."
