University of Tasmania and Agfest Field Days will team up to deliver schools activities and research.
University of Tasmania pro vice-chancellor Professor Janelle Allison said the initiative was part of the university's 12-month-long celebration of its 125th anniversary.
"We are excited at the university to be partnering with the young and passionate team behind Agfest," Professor Allison said.
"Innovation and entrepreneurship are crucially important to our state's future - not just in agriculture, but in all areas of our economic and cultural life.
"The organisers of Agfest are a perfect example of the innovation of drive and ambition that will create a strong future for Tasmania."
She said the event provided an unparalleled chance to connect with the Tasmanian community.
"Together, we can showcase the university, deliver a rich Agfest experience and highlight how innovation and education support Tasmanian agriculture and the State as a whole," Professor Allison said.
Agfest chairman Amanda Bayles said they were pleased to have partnered with the university.
"It is wonderful to be partnering with the University of Tasmania," Ms Bayles said.
"This year provides a unique opportunity to not only celebrate the 125th year of the university, but to showcase the significance of Agfest to delegates of other field days around the country."
Agfest will this year host the Association of Agricultural Field Days of Australasia conference.
The AAFDA event will be held at the university's Newnham campus on Friday, May 8.
The university will be on site at Afgest from May 7 to showcase initiatives that are impacting and transforming communities in Tasmania and across the globe.
