Devonport woman Carolynn Jamieson made the trip yesterday from the North-West to the organisation’s Launceston animal care centre with her beloved 19-year-old pooch on the back of her motorbike.
She joined about 90 other people in support of the Northern shelter.
‘‘Samantha just loves being on the bike,’’ Ms Jamieson said.
‘‘We’ve ridden down from Queensland before – one day we did 1256 kilometres.
‘‘She’s always back on the bike before me.’’
RSPCA communications manager David Rose said the fund-raiser was a roaring success.
‘‘We were hoping for about 50 people based on the fact there’s a similar event in Queensland and they get about 80,’’ he said.
‘‘We are just delighted.’’
He said the money, food and presents left for animals in the shelter donated yesterday would stay in Launceston.
