The game was deadlocked until the final 20 seconds of the match when teenage substitute Joseph Dickinson smashed in a volley from 18 yards.
After a scrambled corner kick was cleared to the edge of the box, the 16-year-old hit the ball first time and it went in off the crossbar to seal the dramatic win.
Northern Rangers dominated Ulverstone but left the showgrounds 2-1 losers.
Rangers’ coach Brendan Lichtendonk said his side had plenty of scoring opportunities but the Reds’ keeper kept his side in the match with a series of fine saves.
Just on the stroke of half-time, Ulverstone went ahead from a shot at the edge of the area.

Launceston City had a hard fought 3-1 win against Riverside Olympic at home.
A penalty in the opening five minutes put City ahead before they doubled their lead in the 25th minute.
Olympic hit back in the second half but City restored its two goal buffer in the final five minutes.
Ladder leaders Burnie United dropped points for the first time of the year after a 3-2 draw against Devonport City.
The Strikers were ahead 2-0 at half-time but conceded two goals after the restart before again taking the lead.
However, the Strikers could not stay ahead and Burnie netted the equaliser in the last five minutes of the game.
Devonport coach David Meldrum said he was proud of the football his side played but Burnie’s physical game was too hard for his younger side.
