The defence chose not to give or adduce evidence.
Justice Robert Pearce told jurors that counsel will give closing addresses on Thursday at 10am.
He estimated that prosecutor John Ransom and defence counsel Evan Hughes would take one day each for their closing addresses.
Justice Pearce said he expected to sum up the case on Monday and jurors would retire to consider their verdicts later on Monday or Tuesday morning.
EARLIER: THE last text message sent from the mobile phone of a woman before she and her boyfriend were killed has been read in the Supreme Court.
A message sent at 9.30pm on August 15, 2012 from the phone of Angela Maree Hallam, 31, read, "That's good I hope he does take it off you, you need to stop and relax a little bit".
Prosecutor John Ransom read the SMS in court on Tuesday from documents prepared by Crown witness Constable Giuliano Ercole of the Northern Crime Management Unit of Tasmania Police.
Mr Ransom said the message was sent from Ms Hallam's mobile phone to the number of Samantha Banks.
"After that point your chart does not record any further SMSs from Angela Hallam's phone?" he asked Constable Ercole during evidence-in-chief.
"Correct," the witness replied.
The prosecutor also referred to a message sent from the phone of the accused, Marco Daniel Rusterholz, at 10.22pm on the same night to the mobile phone number of Sally Mayer.
"On my way now," Mr Ransom read the SMS.
He then asked Constable Ercole to read a text message from the phone of Mr Rusterholz to Ms Hallam's number which was sent at 10.34pm.
"Fell asleep will catch up mid week when I get back from Hobart," the witness read.
Mr Ransom also asked Constable Ercole to read a further text message sent from the phone of Mr Rusterholz to Ms Mayer later that night.
"Are you going to be home soon? Two reasons, one, got Covvo coming to see you, two, got you a birthday present," Constable Ercole read.
The Crown has argued that by that time, Ms Hallam and boyfriend Joshua Eric Newman, 21, were dead in a Pioneer Parade, Ravenswood unit.
The Launceston trial of Mr Rusterholz, 51, of Rocherlea, started its sixth week on Monday.
He has pleaded not guilty to the murders of Ms Hallam and Mr Newman, whose stabbed, burnt remains were discovered in a late night fire on August 15, 2012.
