The Northern Bombers led by four goals at three-quarter-time but the home side finished the better with the breeze to snatch a 7.14 (56) to 7.13 (55) victory.
Tom Bennett kicked three goals to be North's best goalkicker, with Nick Dodge managing two for Lauderdale.
North coach Zane Littlejohn was not happy with the way his side played.
"We didn't play the style of footy we wanted to play and want to be known for, so to lose by that given the way we played was pretty lucky," he said.
"They finished with the breeze but I don't think that was the reason we lost the game: it was more errors that we made.
"We were good at times inside the stoppages but we weren't at others, and we didn't have the 22 contributors we needed.
"We spoke about it after the game and we learnt that if we don't have 22 contributors, then things won't go our way."
Littlejohn praised the games of his key defenders in Geoff Mohr on Ben Halton and Corey Nankervis on Michael Cassidy, with Bennett good up forward.
CLARENCE finished strongly against Hobart City on Friday night to grab its first win of the season with a 9.19 (73) to 7.9 (51) victory.
Claude Alcorso kicked three goals for the Roos, with Julian Debosz booting three for the Demons.
GLENORCHY extended its winning run to three matches with its 10.16 (76) to 4.1 (25) win over the Tigers.
Jaye Bowden kicked three goals for the Magpies.
