Meander Valley badminton will return next month and Mrs Gleeson is confident that the sport's popularity among juniors can continue.
"In the last few years we have had an increase in the number of players between ages 12 and 16," she said.
"We would like to see more and it's always good to see more young ones getting involved, but somewhere along the line you do lose them because of university and other things.
"It's one of the cheaper sports around and I think that's why so many people play. Basketball and squash are both fairly dear and we only play one night a week. Last year we had 230 players and 52 juniors."
The Deloraine Badminton Association's senior roster starts on Tuesday, April 14 and Thursday, April 16 at 7.30pm, while the junior roster begins on Friday, April 24 from 7pm to 8.30pm at the Deloraine Community Complex.
Beginners are encouraged to sign up and Mrs Gleeson said opting to play the sport 52 years ago was a fond memory she holds to this day.
"I just enjoy the people and it's something to do through the winter, rather than sit at home. My mother used to play, so I just naturally got involved in the game. We have had a number of people go on to represent the state as well."
