The church walls will flicker with candlelight as guests take their seats at a banquet table, ready for the excitement to begin.
The murder mystery banquet will be co-ordinated by Clare Corban-Banks and Laurie Parr as a fundraiser for the church grounds.
"We were walking through the grounds with our dogs, we were saying 'doesn't this look so great?'," Mrs Corban-Banks said.
"It looked like one of those Midsomer Murders mysteries off the TV. Laurie said 'we should do that, we should make our own in the church', so we got carried away and ended up doing it."
She said they could not find a church-based murder mystery script that would suit a small Australian town, so they made their own.
"We're going to have one banquet table for 40 people with lots of candles, set in 1932-ish Longford," Mrs Corban-Banks said.
"There are roles for a limited number of people in the script, people can register interest in those when they get tickets."
Mrs Parr said funds raised by the event would go towards the continued care and replanting of the church ground's trees.
"People will not only be having a good night out and a delicious meal, but helping the church grounds."
Guests will arrive at 6pm and will be greeted with a glass of champagne before the mystery begins.
"People can have hors d'oeuvres, canapes and champagne before they sit down to the banquet," Mrs Corban-Banks said.
"There will be a scream and a body will be found, then they can solve the mystery."
People are asked to dress in 1930s-40s clothing.
Tickets are $70 a person.
