The club's Paul Hawkins said that Saturday saw the masters' events, with junior and senior members having their turn on the Sunday.

``A few of us on Saturday were reminded that we were really to old to be competing, pulling groin muscles and quads,'' he said.

``The masters' categories started at 30 and went up in five-year increments - there was iron man, beach sprints and surf boat racing, that I competed in.

``Bridport did pretty well across the board, both at an individual and club level, but we don't know the full results yet - we'll probably get the club results on Wednesday.''

Mr Hawkins said that Sunday's all-age carnival included an all-age relay, in which each team had members from each of the age categories.

``The all-relay is a way of encouraging young kids to compete alongside the senior members,'' he said.

The club will at 6pm on Saturday stage an emergency flare demonstration - the season runs until the end of March.
