Exeter-based sewing group In Stitches held a friendship day late last year aimed at raising funds for West Tamar volunteer fire brigades.
Glengarry, Gravelly Beach and Bridgenorth volunteer brigades were gifted $400 each at a ceremony last Tuesday.
In Stitches member Pauline Edmunds said the 150 attendees of the friendship day enjoyed an event featuring plenty of laughter.
"We get together for friendship, a chat and a sew," Ms Edmunds said.
"Lots of communities have these groups."
Ms Edmunds said members of the Exeter group met twice weekly at the Exeter Christian Church.
She said a similar event next year would likely see the region's remaining brigades gifted a monetary donation.
