"We both like the same kind of music and we both come from similar music as far as that goes," Stringer told X-static.
"As a songwriter he really inspires me, as he's always writing all the time, prose and poetry as well, and I love playing his songs, so I do get a lot out of it.
"Speaking for myself, I can sometimes get sick of just playing all my songs all the time, so it just helps for me, playing with someone whose music I really admire, so I can get something out of it musically as well and do something to pique my interest a bit, as such."
The two will be back in Tasmania in early February, playing shows in Launceston, Sheffield and Lorinna.
Stringer said the vibe of the shows would be an intimate one.
"As far as the concept of the shows go it will be pretty simple, we are just going to play each others' songs together and probably tell a few stories about the songs.
"We both tend to write a lot of narrative-based songs, so the songs speak for themselves really.
"The way we usually structure it is to play a couple of sets of our own material together.
"These sort of shows tend to thrive with more of a listening audience more than just a 'band on a Friday night kind of vibe'.
"But the style of music that we also play is reasonably varied, and it's not just all dense, heavy, slow stuff, there is a lot of lighter moments and changes of pace.
"But based on the number of performers on stage, that in itself tends to make it a more intimate show straight away."
Stringer recently stepped out of her comfort zone to record a live solo CD/DVD.
"It is just a live show that we filmed at the Yarra Hotel in Abbotsford and called Live at the Yarra, and was completely solo, which is different for me as I usually have another element on stage.
"So that tour was obviously something different for me, and as I play live so often, it was something that made sense to make a live album.
"I did miss having the synergy on stage, and my solo stuff isn't usually that many shows in a row [as the tour for that CD/DVD presented], but it was an interesting experience and a great insight into my own psyche as far as performing goes."
