Heartstrings Quartet features Irish guitarist Arty McGlynn, virtuosic fiddler Nollaig Casey, harpist Maire Ni Chathasaigh and the skilled picking of Britain's Chris Newman.
The act is a big deal for the festival, according to organiser Nick Weare. He said the group would perform a special concert at Deloraine Community Complex from 7pm on Saturday, March 21.
"Seating will be limited to 300 and tickets will be available at the low price of $30," he said.
"The band will be performing at the Port Fairy Folk Festival and StringFest will be their only Tasmanian appearance."
The group's repertoire is wide and varied, and includes traditional Irish and Gaelic songs.
Their award-winning release Heartstring Sessions received critical acclaim from British publications, tracks from which will be performed during the intimate evening.
The festival will also see performances by Australian guitarist Michael Fix, ukulele workshops from Melbourne's Thom Jackson, and music from Tasmanian quintet Bon Accorde - featuring former concert flamenco guitarist Edrick Corban Banks.
