The regular national teammates and roomies again topped the podium but while Edmondson claimed gold at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, it was Cure adding to her extensive carnivals CV at the Silverdome in Prospect.
The West Pine world champion, who turns 22 on New Year’s Eve, claimed her third Launceston Wheel after earlier victories in 2006 (off 120m) and 2011, also off scratch.
Cure’s time of 2:19.45 was just two-hundredths of a second faster than her South Australian teammate with Kirstie James third.
Cure, who also joined fellow Tasmanian junior world champions Macey Stewart and Georgia Baker on the scratch mark, said she was delighted to complete a year which saw her claim her first senior world title, back on familiar territory.
‘‘It’s great to win in Tasmania in front of an amazing crowd,’’ she said.
‘‘It’s awesome to have all my family and friends here. It’s not often they can watch me race.
‘‘I’m looking forward to next year but I love coming home to race.
‘‘That was really good and all the scratch girls gave it their best.’’
Edmondson, who won the race in 2012, said she was happy to repay Cure for the efforts which brought her gold and silver medals at the Commonwealth Games.
‘‘I’m very excited to get both of us up there and especially for Amy to win in front of her home crowd.’’
Edmondson had earlier scraped into the final by qualifying in eighth place from her heat.
