Last year the appeal raised almost $69,000.
This year the target was $80,000.
Today marks the end of the appeal, with all money raised divided between the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul, City Mission and the Benevolent Society.
The last grand donation was $20,000, which was raised by the Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise Carols by Candlelight event.
Organiser Danny Gibson said the event was a great way to make christmas happier and brighter for everyone in the community.
He thanked the event's sponsors for their support.
''The Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise organised Carols by Candlelight again this year, and the overwhelming support that we received through corporate and community sponsorship, and the record crowd that we had in attendance, and the generosity that we had at the gate, all contributed to us making this significant donation,'' Mr Gibson said.
''Attendance, or sponsorship or volunteering on the night all contributed to ensuring that those within our community who are doing it tough or need a little bit of help have a brighter and happier christmas and new year, and that is what it is all about.''
You can donate at The Examiner's Launceston office until 5pm.
