The number of Tasmanian ABC staff who will lose their jobs is not yet clear.
But ABC Managing Director Mark Scott has this morning announced about 10 per cent of the ABC’s ongoing workforce face potential redundancy in coming months.
''We regard the changes as vital to securing the long-term health of the organisation but I acknowledge that is no comfort to those who will lose their positions,'' he said.
Mr Scott said about 300 staff set to lose their jobs would know their fate before Christmas.
State-based current affairs programs including 7.30 Tasmania will be scrapped altogether through the cuts.
The programs will be replaced in the time slot with a new-look, national current affairs program.
Lateline will be broadcast on digital channel ABC News 24.
The broadcaster is being stripped of $254 million, or around 5 per cent of its budget, over the next five years.
