In May it was revealed that the council would seek expressions of interest to operate the motorised two-wheeled vehicles in City Park, Royal Park, the Seaport boardwalk and the Inveresk precinct.
At the time the council had been approached by two potential operators.
Council general manager Robert Dobrzynski said today, it had called for expressions of interest.
"The council called for expressions of interest on this matter earlier in the year and received one expression of interest from a potential operator,'' Mr Dobrzynski said.
"We have held discussions with that proponent, and are now waiting to see if a formal proposal from the potential operator eventuates.''
