A wider rollout of the new service is expected to take place in early 2015 and will enable faster downloads for Telstra customers.
Mayor Michael Kent last week praised the early rollout.
"[It] will help us to better manage any increase in traffic we typically see during holiday season when people flock to the area," he said.
"We're also looking forward to the broader rollout in 2015, and hope to see more areas in the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council reap the benefits of 4GX."
Telstra Country Wide Tasmanian area general manager Michael Patterson wants the new network to provide more service consistency for those in Swansea.
"The explosion in applications, shift towards mobile video consumption and use of mobile in commerce means demand for connectivity continues to grow strongly," he said.
"Every summer, Tasmanians flock to Swansea to relax by the beach and enjoy the good weather. The 4GX network will give the local area the capacity to better handle influxes of visitors and improve the mobile experience during busy times."
Residents can ensure they are equipped with a 4GX device by looking for the 4GX tag online and in store.
Almost all of this summer's most sought-after smartphones, tablets and mobile broadband devices including Samsung Galaxy 5, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 are 4GX ready.
