Woolmers Festival of Roses, the Longford Garden Club's annual flower show and the garden competition are sure to draw crowds of green-thumbed visitors to the town.
Eight gardens will open as part of the competition, according to co-ordinator Paula Gordon-Smith.
"All these gardens are in the township of Longford and within walking distance of each other," Mrs Gordon-Smith said.
"These gardens are diverse in nature and design and offer lots of inspiration for the suburban gardener — last year's winner of the small garden category, Helen Bond, is opening again.
"Helen's garden has many rare and unusual plants."
She said the garden competition would be a ticketed system, with passes to view the gardens available from Longford Mitre 10 on the Sunday.
The tickets are $5 each and will include a map on the back of the competing displays.
Mrs Gordon-Smith said people could vote for their favourite gardens to go into the draw to receive a $100 voucher from the outlet store.
She said Longford businesses had also come on-board this year by extending their opening hours to accommodate those enjoying the town.
