THE Launceston Kart Club will have 27 drivers competing at the coming Tasmanian karting championships with a host of its members in contention for state titles.

At opposite ends of the experience scale will be veteran karter Johnathan Males who will be competing in his 22nd state championship and Jake Delphin who will be competing in his first.
Males will go into the over-40, pro- class as one of the outright favourites while Delphin will be out to build on his first year of racing and is a chance to secure a podium place in the cadets class.
A couple of senior drivers will be doing double duties at the state titles with defending TAG light champion Zane Wyatt going for back-to-back titles as well as attempting to win another clubman heavy title.
Alastair Lee will also be competing in two classes and is hoping to go one better than last year’s championship where he finished second in both senior national pro and clubman heavy.
Troy Stone and Steven Wrigley have travelled extensively this year and both will be keen to win their first state title in clubman heavy, in one of the biggest classes at the championships.
In the rookies, William Reeve will be sweating on his doctor’s advice as to whether or not he is able to race after having his appendix removed.
Tate Frost and Lachlan Dalton have both raced interstate during the year and will been keen to show the mainland visitors they will be hard to beat.
In junior national light, LKC trio Jackson Callow, Mitchell Kerrison and Kurtis Love, are capable of grabbing a trophy come Sunday’s final. Junior national heavy’s Justin Murphy will be keen to keep his good local form going and will be one of the front-runners while girl power will also be represented in this class with Caitlin Fitch and Kiana Toon out to upstage the boys.
A total of 150 competitors from across Australia will be out to claim one of the 12 blue plates on offer as state champions. The Tasmanian karting championships will be held at the Orielton (Richmond) track from November 14-16.
