Eskleigh chief executive Dale Luttrell said families could relax in the grounds before wandering through the exhibition.
‘‘It’s an opportunity for the adults perhaps to come and have a look at the art, and for the children to have a play in the gardens, have lunch, and have a lovely day,’’ he said.
There are 225 works on display at Eskleigh, with 30 sold during the first day of the exhibition yesterday.
All works have been created by Tasmanian artists.
‘‘This exhibition is probably one of the bigger exhibitions in Tasmania, because it gives the artists the opportunity to enter and the majority are exhibited,’’ Mr Luttrell said.
‘‘They range from watercolours to sculptures to oils and mixed media, so it gives us an opportunity to display all different types of media that have entered, and gives the artists the opportunity to display their works as well.
‘‘For the first day, we’ve had a particularly good sale. Sculptures are selling particularly well.’’
Profits from the sale of the works will be donated to Eskleigh nursing home residents.
The exhibition will run until November 3. Entry is $5 a person.
