Petbarn stores across the state teamed up with the RSPCA to give the public an extra opportunity to adopt a new family member – four dogs were adopted at the Launceston premises.
Petbarn also paid for a barbecue with all profits to support the RSPCA.
RSPCA Launceston manager Lorraine Hamilton said such events as Pet Fun Days were nice social occasions for the dogs.
‘‘It’s good to get the dogs out there and be seen by other people who perhaps might not have thought to come to the shelter,’’ Ms Hamilton said.
‘‘We’ve always got dogs looking for adoption. Our intention is really to help people get the right match and get the pet that’s suited to their lifestyle.’’
Petbarn Launceston assistant manager Sophie Fenton said the store hoped to increase the number of adoption days – ‘‘Anything to help animals find a home rather than being in a shelter is what we want to help support.’’
