Current Deputy Mayor Bridget Archer is the sole candidate for the role.
Dorset Council is the only other Northern council to have just one candidate for mayor.
Cr Archer said she was surprised to run without competition but she would first need to be voted in as councillor to fulfil the role.
If Cr Archer is not re-elected to the council the role of mayor will be taken to a by-election.
"It's a bit of a surprise to be uncontested in the current climate - this is the first all-in, all-out election," Cr Archer said.
"The first thing we need to do is rebuild some trust and confidence - we've had a tumultuous couple of years and there's some rebuilding to do in that regard.
"I would like to see reinvigoration as the focus of the council and building trust and confidence in the community."
Current councillors Dean Gibbons, Stephen Geale, Tim Parish and Heather Barwick will battle for deputy mayor.
Newcomers Tim Harris and Peter Parkes will also vie for the role.
Votes in the local government elections can be cast between October 14 and 28.
