A two-hour forum has been organised at the school this Tuesday at 7.30pm to discuss the its future.
School association chairman Paul Yeates said that on the agenda was how it might be rejuvenated for community education use through a portion of the state government's $3.5 million Schools Transition Fund, announced last week.
The Port Sorell school will be accepting enrolments for up to 350 students and will appoint staff from next month.
The new school has posed a threat to three nearby schools since its announcement in 2010.
Wesley Vale Primary School, with 307 enrolments, is 10 kilometres out of Port Sorell.
Primary schools at Moriarty and Sassafras have enrolments of 75 and 45 respectively.
Education Department deputy secretary of schools Liz Banks said that although these schools and other Tasmanian government schools would not close at the end of the year, school communities were encouraged to explore new ways of delivering education under the School Transition Fund.
Schools have until November 16 to submit an expression of interest to the fund.
The Port Sorell school will be open for inspection on Saturday, October 13.
