As an assistant principal at Launceston College, he has been on council since 2009.
Mr Soward is part of a number of council and community committees, and said he was keen for more action and less endless talk in helping Launceston to get back on track.
``At the moment there a bit too much talk and not enough action,'' he said.
``One of the really important things in local government is consultation - I can't speak more highly of it.
``However sometimes you can consult too much, things get tied up in meetings but nothing gets done.''
Alderman Soward said one of his proudest achievements in recent times, was to ensure the basin concert came back to the city.
``I started the process of getting that back three years ago and now a local promoter has taken it on and we'll see it come together on New Years Day,'' he said.
