Gordon Square Childhood Services director Kerryn Bendtsen said a big tree at the George Town childcare centre had fallen into its yard and onto the cubby house.
``We put a call-out on our Facebook page for anyone that would remove the tree, then I got a phone call from Andrew Taylor who is involved in the SES and he asked had it been removed,'' she said.
``They came the next day, then they came back in the afternoon and took about an hour and a half to do it all.';
Ms Bendtsen said the log cutoffs were used to create things for the centre's children, including chairs and blackboards.
She said it was a great example of a small community coming together.
``Small communities are really good because you pretty much know everyone,'' she said.
``We have strong community connections.''
