More than $10 million worth of high-grade amphetamine has been seized in Hobart, and a further $10 million in Queensland that police allege was on its way to the state.
The operation has disrupted a large importation syndicate, and six men have been arrested in relation to drug trafficking.
Police allege four of the men have direct links with the Rebels Motorcycle Club.
Three of the men are Tasmanian based, and police allege two others are Tasmanian Rebels members living on the Gold Coast.
Assistant Police Commissioner Donna Adams said the seized packages were equivalent to 200,000 hits of amphetamine.
‘‘This operation has disrupted a significant drug importation syndicate with overseas connections with a number of arrests linked to the Rebels motorcycle gang,’’ Ms Adams said.
Ms Adams said it was believed the drugs would have been cut down and sold around the state, distributed using the Rebels network.
‘‘This operation is a significant dent to their activities in the state,’’ she said.
