LIFE has been pretty sweet for The Bennies.
The Melbourne four-piece have been picked up as supports for two massive tours later this year.
Plus, they get to play in Tassie this weekend.?nts?aug1-2?nte
Singer and keyboard extraordinaire Anty Horgan said so much had happened for the band in the past year and a half.
This year alone, The Bennies have toured China, and scored supports with US bands the Dead Kennedys and Morning Glory.
When ?X-Static? spoke to Horgan, he was preparing to play two shows with American punk band The Adolescents.
``We're lucky as f**k to see them.?th.?th. we're keen as f**k to be playing with The Dead Kennedys, too,'' Horgan said.
After that, there might be a new album around to accompany November's ?ifRainbows in Space?nf.
``At the very latest we'll be recording some songs at the end of the year,'' Horgan said.
``We're aiming to have an album out next year, February or March, but we'll try and get a few songs out for the summer.''
While music is becoming more and more a part of the band's lives, Horgan said it was not yet a full-time career.
``We don't really live like kings,'' he said.
This weekend will see The Bennies play alongside ``one of my favourite bands'' Luca Brasi, as well as Melbourne's Clowns (fun fact: Horgan lives with Clowns' drummer) and Hobart's Knife Hands.
``We'll be playing a few new songs,'' Horgan teased.
``We're so pumped about Tassie, it's one of the best places to play.''
The line-up will hit Hobart tomorrow night?nts?aug1?nte, before heading up to Launceston for Saturday night.
On Saturday, Bennies guitarist Jules will join Tyler from Luca Brasi and Launceston's Isaac Bowen for an all-ages, free acoustic session at Shots on Wax on St John Street, Launceston, from 2pm.
