A corporation spokeswoman said that the update would provide a unique forum for farmers and advisers to learn from and network with leading industry professionals.
The program included a broad range of topics delivered by a selection of expert speakers who would offer practical advice and information on key issues facing the state's grain growers, she said
After a 9am welcome from the corporation, Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association will address participants with a discussion entitled The Tasmanian agricultural plan and the opportunities for Tasmanian agriculture. What opportunities exist for the Tasmanian farmer and how is Tasmanian agriculture positioned against the mainland states?
The update will continue with three concurrent morning sessions:
Poppy Growers Tasmania chief executive Keith Rice will present The Tasmanian Poppy Industry - what does the future hold?
Macquarie Franklin's Thom Goodwin will present Understanding the pros and cons on Tasmania's GM status for Tasmanian Farms.
Proadvise's Andrew Beatie will present Succession planning - the dos and don'ts.
The two concurrent after-lunch sessions are:
Mutual Trust's Peter O'Loughlin with The principles of generating wealth in farming businesses and;
Farmer and Nuffield Scholar Rob Bradley, with Integrated farming systems for a sustainable future. What is the role of mixed farming in sustainable agriculture?
The update's final session will be Achieving success, getting there and going on with it, presented by Melbourne Football Club 226-game veteran Stan Alves.
