JIMMY Barnes is planning one hell of a party to celebrate his 30th anniversary as a solo artist.

The location: Josef Chromy Wines at Relbia on Saturday, December 6, when Barnes, his daughter Mahalia and fellow rock acts The Living End and You Am I, a line-up handpicked by Barnes himself, converge on the vineyard for the fifth  A Day on the Green  concert in Launceston.

``There are a lot of concerts and festivals out there, but this is a festival that runs constantly and for that to happen, it has to be really well run,'' Barnes told  The Examiner

``You can go out there as a young punter and go out and have a wild time and get in front and go crazy, or you can sit back on a blanket and eat caviar and drink wine if you want and everything in between.

``The organisers didn't hesitate at all, they went out and spent big money to put together the show we wanted and I can't wait for it.''

Barnes's first solo album  Bodyswerve  was released in 1984, just months after he departed Cold Chisel, hitting No. 1 on the Australian charts almost instantly.

Since that point, the music icon has released another 13 studio albums, which another eight reached the top of the charts.

A Day on the Green  promoter Michael Newton said the festival deliberately moved the date of Launceston's concert back to pre-Christmas so it could be part of the Barnes' tour.

``We've done a lot of shows with Jimmy over the history of  A Day on the Green , and he's been a really important artist for us and from the outset he wanted to do his 30th anniversary in conjunction with  A Day on the Green ,'' Newton said.

``He'll be doing a two-hour set going right through his catalogue and all the artists on the bill see it as a celebration of all things Jimmy, so it is exciting.

``We know people enjoy going down to Jo Chromy for these shows, which is a perfect location, and we've had a lot of fun there.''

In a section of Barnes's set lucky members of the crowd will get the chance to spin the ``Jimmy Barnes Greatest Hits Spinning Wheel'', a digital wheel set up on stage which will decide which song is played next, adding another element to the set.

Barnes will also release an album on August 29 with some of his closest music friends called  30/30 , re-recording 15 of his biggest hits.

Tickets for Relbia's  A Day on the Green  concert will go on sale on Friday, July 18, from Ticketmaster outlets.
