For the second year running, the NewsXpress business received an award for Lottery Agent of the Year at the Australian Newsagents' Federation Tasmania Awards on Saturday.
It was also a finalist in the CONNECT Retail Newsagency of the Year.
Owner Sue Sherriff said good customer service, adherence to Lotto guidelines and keeping an eye open for opportunities were to thank for the win.
She also pointed towards a well- rubbed Buddha sitting on the front counter.
"We do work hard but there are quite a lot of agents that work hard in the business," she said.
"We always try and make sure that our Tatts area is clean and inviting and we run in-store promotions, which we always ensure our customers know about."
The win marks the second celebration for the newsagent in recent time - it sold a division 1 Tattslotto winning ticket in June.
A retired couple is $1.29 million richer after the win.
NewsXpress George Town is a success story in an industry that has recently lost three businesses in the state.
Mrs Sherriff said a decline in traditional print media meant the business had been forced to diversify.
"We're a small town, so we like to give our customers what they can't find elsewhere," she said.
