The family-friendly event will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the introduction of trout to Tasmania.
There will be displays of wild trout being stripped of eggs in the Inland Fisheries Service's hatchery, children can cast a line in the ``fishout pond'' and there will be tips and demonstrations on trout cooking and fish smoking, as well as the basics of trout fishing and casting.
Helicopter rides over the Central Plateau and Great Lake will be available, while boats and fishing equipment will be on display at the weekend's trade exhibits.
The event will run from 10am-3pm today and tomorrow and entry is free.
