Joshua John Atkinson, 27, pleaded not guilty in Launceston Magistrates Court to one count of being found prepared for the commission of a crime while armed with a dangerous weapon.
Court documents allege Mr Atkinson was found with a FN Herstal 6mm handgun on Wellington Street Launceston on April 7.
Magistrate Reg Marron committed the matter to trial.
A number of other firearm charges were adjourned to a date to be fixed.
Mr Atkinson was remanded on bail to appear in Launceston's Supreme Court on July 21.
