No injuries in log truck rollover

POLICE believe a truck rollover early yesterday morning was caused by a mechanical failure.

Police were called to Golconda Road at Lebrina at 4.47am to find the Kenworth log truck with Victorian number plates on its side, and the driver out of the vehicle's cabin.

No injuries were reported.

The passenger side of the truck's cabin was completely crushed, and the truck's load spilt across the highway on a corner five kilometres from the Lebrina shop.

An excavator was called to the accident site over the morning to clear the logs from the road.

There have been 643 car accidents as of this February recorded by the Launceston division this financial year.

There have been 60 more car crashes in the division for 2013-14, compared with last financial year.
