Youth gear up to make an impact

AUSTRALIA'S largest celebration of youth begins tomorrow and promises plenty of activities for young people in the North.

National Youth Week, an annual celebration of people aged 12 to 25, is this year centred around the theme of ``Our Voice. Our Impact''.

Activities are planned throughout the state during the week.

One Ravenswood activity is centred around improving the self-esteem of girls.

Ravenswood Neighbourhood House incoming manager Nettie Burr said a survey would be conducted about issues girls faced in the neighbourhood.

``Kids just need opportunities,'' she said.
