Finding investment platforms with low fees is being promoted by many advisers to improve long term returns, as is the use of ETFs. As I understand it, most ETFs are US-based and incur a 15 per cent tax on dividends. Does this not negate their value in SMSFs and conflict with the "low-fee" advice?
ANSWER:
There are many ETF’s in Australia – in fact I use them myself. There are quite a few run by State Street. For example the one that tracks the top 200 shares on the ASX has the stock exchange code STW.
