A SOUTHERN Tasmanian teenager was injured during a firearm mishap on Saturday, police say.

The Bridgewater youth received only minor injuries as a result of the incident, Tasmania Police said yesterday.
Police did not release the age or gender of the victim but asked for public assistance into the matter.
Glenorchy Criminal Investigation Branch said the incident appeared to be accidental.
"At this stage, police are continuing inquires as to the exact circumstances of the incident and are requesting assistance from the public," a police statement said.
"Tasmania Police would like to reassure the public that this incident does not appear to be an intentional act."
