Detective Inspector Scott Flude, of Launceston CIB, said the man had not been interviewed yesterday but this was expected to occur today.
No charges had been laid, he said.
Detective Flude said the injuries to the woman were non- life threatening and she was recovering well after surgery yesterday.
Detectives are investigating what they described as a "serious family violence incident" at the couple's Newnham home on Tuesday night.
Detective Inspector Flude said police found the woman in the bedroom with knife wounds and bruising to her neck.
She was taken to the Launceston General Hospital for treatment, where she underwent surgery yesterday morning and remains in a stable condition.
Detective Inspector Flude said police arrested her 29-year-old husband at the house without incident.
Police and an ambulance were called to the address by the woman just after 9.30pm on Tuesday after she made a triple-0 call.
