A 31-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly stabbed her partner in the chest in a domestic dispute in Henry Street on Saturday about 9pm.
A 36-year-old man was taken to the Launceston General hospital with non-life threatening injuries as a result.
The following night a 20-year-old man was charged with glassing a teenager in Main Street Bridport with a beer bottle.
The alleged victim received stitches to the head but was not seriously wounded, acting police Inspector Bob Baker said.
Police are also investigating an assault at the Bridport Hotel where a man was punched.
Across the North police responded to 88 incidents, roughly double the workload of a typical Sunday.
Statewide there were 430 police incidents this Australia Day compared with 127 the previous Sunday and 10 less than Australia Day 2013.
Sunday was busier than a New Year's Eve before midnight.
``But New Year's then ramps up after midnight,'' Tasmania Police Sergeant Adam Baker said.
``Anecdotally speaking, it appears to have been busy in camping areas, particularly Boat Harbour, Port Sorell and Bridport. Kingston was also particularly busy around Kingston Beach and associated drinking areas.''
Tragedy struck in the South on Sunday when a 58-year-old man drowned at Roaring Beach at Nubeena.
Early reports suggested the man was caught in a rip.
His partner was treated for shock.
Later that night a 26-year-old motorist died when his ute crashed on the Murchison Highway at Oonah in the North-West.
