About 11 hectares of the Kate Reed Nature Recreation Area, near the Silverdome, will be closed to the public.
Parks and Wildlife Services Northern Region Manager Stan Matuszek said it was an important strategic burn as a bushfire in the reserve could be a significant threat to adjoining private properties.
"The affected tracks may need to be closed for a number of days until such time as PWS can inspect and treat any hazardous trees created as a result of the burn," Mr Matuszek said.
"Visitors are requested to respect signage and follow directions.
“People should also be aware that during the burning operation, there will be smoke and fire vehicles on nearby roads.
“Residents are also advised to keep windows shut and avoid outside airing of laundry on the day of the burn."
Enquiries can be directed to the Northern Region Parks and Wildlife Service office on 6336 5312 between 9am to 4pm weekdays.
