``We have removed a Green-Labor government from Canberra that has stifled economic opportunities for this state but that's only half the task,'' Senator Abetz said in Hobart this afternoon. ``The other half of the task is from now until March 14 next year where we need to remove the Green-Labor government from Hobart.''
Senator Abetz attributed much of the massive 10 per cent swing against Labor to dissent about the forestry peace deal.
``The idea of locking up more than 50 per cent of Tasmania's landmass has been rejected by the Tasmanian people and those who have tried to make deals should take that into account.''
Prime Minister-elect Tony Abbott has promised to try to repeal the expansion of Tasmania's World Heritage area and Senator Abetz urged state politicians to listen to the voices of Tasmanians and reconsider their decision to approve the agreement.
However, Deputy Premier Bryan Green said the federal election was fought on national issues and the disunity in the Labor party cost them the election.
``The fact is that it was the lowest vote that the Labor Party had received across the nation since the war years.''
