An Invermay woman said she knows what it's like to wake up and see "a pervert staring back".
"I just started screaming and asked what he was doing there and then he just walked out," the woman said.
The incident, earlier this month, only lasted seconds but has instilled a lasting fear in the 22-year-old.
"Yeah it was pretty scary ... I had to get alarms and sensor lights installed around the house so that makes it a bit better," she said.
"I've told everyone I know that lives around this area."
It was about 5.45am when the woman woke to sounds of what she thought were mice.
"It continued and there were footsteps and then my bedroom door opened and a man was there," she said. "He was very normal looking ... a bit of facial hair and brown hair - very plain."
The man said "what" when she screamed at him.
Police told her that they think they know who's responsible and it was unusual for him to return to the same home.
About 30 minutes after the woman's experience, a man was seen nearby in Dry Street peering through another home's window, police said.
Launceston CIB believe it's linked to two break-ins early yesterday morning at Ravenswood.
According to Detective Senior Sergeant Johnathan Higgins, a man walked into two houses in the area without attempting to steal anything.
"The reason for entry is not believed to be related to property theft," he said.
"Residents in the Ravenswood area are reminded to be vigilant in securing their doors and windows especially during the evening and at night."
Concerns about the stalker have also spread to social media, with women in the Launceston area posting reports on Facebook.
Police said they had not received any reports of the man touching the women or engaging in autoerotic stimulation.
Suspicious activity should be reported to police in the first instance on 131444, Detective Senior Sergeant Higgins said.
